For starters, the novel makes no illusions that the dinosaurs are anything other that genetically engineered monsters. It is in the minor details that things change. Meanwhile, disgruntle programmer Dennis Nedry turns off the security systems to steal dinosaur embryos, which also results in the dinosaurs escaping. A worker is attacked by a raptor leading to InGen bringing in experts to assess Jurassic Park and its safety. The basic story beats for the novel are the same as the movie. So let’s hop on a tour vehicle and hope the power to the fences stays on as we take a look at the original Jurassic Park novel. Jurassic Park is one of my favorite films of all time, and the novel is also a favorite of mine. A film has to worry about pacing, actors, effects, lighting, location, budget and etc., something novels (only limited by the imagination of the author, and the reader) don’t have to worry about. Of course, most are aware that Jurassic Park was based on the 1990 book of the same name, but most might not be aware of some of the differences between the two.Ī lot gets changed when adapting a novel to film, this is due in part to the nature of the mediums. Jurassic World Dominion will be released next week in theaters and is set to reunite cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern for the first time since the original 1993 film.
